I don't usually add commentary to my web pages, but I have to admit I am fascinated by the cover illustration of the 1958 Noma Christmas lighting catalog.  The giant Santa has a sort of Macy's parade balloon quality with the vague expression of a monstrous automaton.   He is ensnaring the world in his festoon of diabolical lamps, and seems to represent an overblown personification the rampant commercialization of the Christmas holiday.  This is a truly frightening scene, and perhaps this catalog cover helped to bring about the demise of the Noma corporation a few years later?  I am sure the artist intended to convey a jolly Santa spreading Christmas cheer with Noma lamps throughout the World, but I know that I can no longer entirely trust Santa...
